It’s clear at this point that barring any major changes in our income or expenses that we will be able to achieve our investment goals in 34 more months as long as we take things month by month and do everything possible to hit the high bars we have set for ourselves.
From our research, it appears that gas and electric ranges are supposed to last 11-15 years. Wow, our stove has probably doubled that!
The old saying of “It’s not what you know, but who you know” doesn’t just apply to employment… It certainly applies to optimizing your travel experience...Make those connections in your travels and you will not only optimize the EXPERIENCE of your journey, but the FINANCES of them.
So, let’s face it… money does buy happiness. But to what extent? Sometimes when we learn to simplify our lives and remove ourselves from the daily grind of outspending our neighbor, we not only find happiness but freedom!
So what did we find in Rory’s “Junk Drawer”? The answer is a LOT of stuff! We could barely close the damn thing, which is what prompted cleaning it out. Within there were key fobs to cars we no longer own, $20 in loose change, a $100 U.S. Treasury Bond from during his service years, various vegetable seeds (Just wait until you see our driveway-garden posts in the future) and nearly $500 in GIFT CERTIFICATES!!!
It’s all about choices and the reality is the tiny things we do to save money can translate into huge savings! And trust me ladies, your husband will be more apt to encourage you to buy nice things for yourself when you save him money on the other end!
We can ALWAYS do better! This month we clearly spent more on restaurants and groceries than we would like to moving forward on average.
